Materials

  • Colored paper (green for the tree and any color you like for the card base)
  • Scissors (kid-friendly ones if little ones are helping)
  • Glue stick (because who doesn’t love sticking things together?)
  • Ruler (for nice and neat folds)
  • Pencil (to help with measuring and marking)
  • Decorative stickers or paper cut-outs (for the ornaments and snowflakes)
  • A small star cut-out (for the tree topper)

Instructions

  1. Start by cutting a rectangular piece of green paper. Begin folding it back and forth, creating an accordion fold. This will be the base for your Christmas tree. The folds should be even and neat to make the tree look symmetrical.
  2. Once you’ve folded your paper, grab your ruler and pencil. Measure and mark where you’ll be cutting to create the different sections of the tree. You should end up with several accordion-folded pieces of different sizes. These will form the tiers of your Christmas tree.
  3. Take your card base (we suggest a fun, festive color like red or pink) and start arranging the tree sections from largest to smallest. Once you’re happy with how it looks, glue them down, making sure to leave a bit of space between each tier to give it that classic layered tree effect.
  4. No Christmas tree is complete without a star on top! Add your star cut-out to the top of your tree, and then use stickers, paper cut-outs, or even drawn designs to decorate the tree. Think ornaments, snowflakes, and maybe a few presents under the tree.
  5. Once everything is glued in place, let your little one go wild with decorations. Sprinkle some glitter, add more stickers, or even write a holiday message inside the card. Personal touches make all the difference!
