New Style Boutique 2: Fashion Forward is a great new game that’s out on Nintendo 3DS. Normally, my boys have all the fun with their DSes but since this game is pretty girly, I thought I would take the chance to try it out myself and I have really enjoyed playing it. It’s a really nice way to relax in the evening, and use your creativity putting together different outfits.

The New Style Boutique 2: Fashion Forward game involves running a boutique, as the name suggests, but there are lots of different elements to the game and plenty to keep you busy.

New Style Boutique 2: Fashion Forward

When you start the game, you’ll be introduced to a little character called Sophie who’s grandmother used to be best friends with your own character’s grandmother. Sophie shrinks you down to size and then leads you through a secret door into her own little world, where she puts you in charge of running the boutique.

Soon, you will meet lots of new characters and get the chance to help them pick out new outfits in the boutique. The game is pretty easy to follow, even if you are a casual gamer and don’t play many different games. Sophie helps to guide you through lots of the steps, and shows you were to go, introduces new areas of the town to you and shows you what you need.

As well as running the boutique, you’ll be given your own apartment nearby, which is where you can access your wardrobe and change your characters clothes as often as you like. You’re given a copy of all the clothes in the boutique, and also when you go to the fashion buying markets later on you’ll get loads more sample clothes given too.

In your apartment, you can access your mobile phone too to check messages from other characters, and you have your scrap book where you can save image of favourite outfits that you’ve put together.

When you’re picking clothes, you can sort them by pattern, colour or by style such as “girly” or “bold” and when you’re playing you’ll get a feel for which character prefers certain types of clothes so you can do the best job picking things out for them. There’s loads of variety in the clothes. I like to dress my character up in things that I might wear myself, and then dress some of the other shoppers in the more quirky and unusual clothes, if they suit that character’s tastes.

You can also visit other areas in the game, like this magical dolls house that allows you to create rooms and then they really appear within the game play for your character to use. This lets you have the chance to play around with interior design as well as fashion design, which gives some extra variety.

You can access all of the different areas via map, and as you play you’ll keep getting introduced to new places which will then be unlocked for whenever you want to go back to those areas – to meet new characters, try to bring in new customers to the boutique or just to explore.

As the game progresses, you’ll get to do hair and make up too.

I think girls of any age would really enjoy this game. It’s simple enough that young children could manage it well, but it has plenty of creativity and cool features to keep older ones entertained too, especially girl who are into fashion and putting together different looks.

You can download this game via the Nintendo E-store, or buy from retailers including Amazon for around 28.85
