Did you know that the music you listen to in the car actually effect the way that you drive? Kia recently published a study taking a look at the real world driving range of electric cars and how the music you listen to while at the wheel can have an impact on your drive.

Picking out the right music for my journeys is one of the small ways that I get my day off to a good start. Whether I’m dropping the kids off at school, driving to the gym, or rolling through the countryside to visit a friend, the perfect songs can make my daily drives something that I actually enjoy rather than just getting from A to B.

Kia’s study showed that listening to classical music such as Beethoven’s Symphony Number 9 will make drivers calmer and up to 4 times as efficient.

My Kia Drive Style Playlist

I’ve put together a playlist of some of my favourite tracks to listen to behind the wheel, and here are a few of them that I’d like to share.

Wildest DreamsDuomo

I absolutely love the crossover between modern pop songs and a string orchestra, so you have the calm peaceful vibes of classical music but with the familiarity of some of your favourite songs.

This string orchestra cover of Taylor Swift’s Wildest Dreams, from the Bridgerton soundtrack is great for countryside driving.

Essence – Wizkid (feat. Justin Bieber)

This song is so upbeat, and instantly puts me in a good mood, giving me the energy I need when I’m on the way to the gym early in the morning.

Tearin’ Up My Heart – N Sync

This, and other 90s classics like I want it that way by the Backstreet Boys, are perfect for a car journey with friends, like when Luciana and I drop all the kids into school and drive into our nearest city to get our nails done and go for lunch.

We will drive around and sing along to these, even though neither of us can sing, but it doesn’t matter because these feel good songs from the 90s will put us in a great mood to have a fun day.

Weapons – Ava Max

When I drive with the kids, my youngest loves to request songs for the play list and this is one of her current favourites. Luckily, I like it too.

This is an uplifting and empowering song for the school run, to get the morning started on the right foot not only for me but also for the children.

Dear Reader – Taylor Swift

I’m a huge Taylor Swift fan, so I will go through phases where my play list is just her albums on repeat.

This song is the final track from Taylor’s new Midnight’s album (on the 3am edition). All of Taylor Swift’s songs are lyrically so smart, so I find these songs satisfying to listen to if I have a longer drive to do by myself so I can sing along, play the same song three times in a row like I do with Dear Reader, and really get into it.

Underneath the Tree – Kelly Clarkson

I can’t resist Christmas music at this time of year. With all the trips out to reindeer farms and Christmas markets, it would be wrong not to.

This song is so upbeat and gets you in a happy festive mood and is a Christmas song that the whole family can enjoy in the back of the car.

One of the simple pleasures I love to enjoy at this time of year is to go and get a hot chocolate, pop my Christmas playlist on and just drive around with the kids taking a look at all the lights.
