My boys are crazy about super heroes these days, and Batman is one of their favourites, so they were so excited to review the Imaginext DC Super Friends Transforming Batcave.
This is a large play set containing a Batman and a joker figure, along with lots of accessories including a blue costume for Batman so he can change from black to blue Batman as your child prefers. It also has a projectile launcher built into the set.
Within the set, there are power pads for Batman and Joker to stand and when the figures are rotated in those spaces, the set springs open making the play space larger, revealing extra platform space, and some prisons at the bottom of the set to capture baddies like Joker. The eyes of the large Batman design light up too (the required 2 x AAA batteries are included). Each power pad opens a different section of the play set.
This Toy Batcave set has been played with daily since the boys were sent it, especially by my youngest boy R (4) and also my 5 year old (T). My 7 year old was interested in it too and did join in with a lot of the games with this set, which was nice to see as I wasn’t sure if he would be too old for it. The suggested range is 3-8 years old though and it seems like that is right, although when buying for a child at the younger or mid-range of the scale you will definitely get more longevity out of the toy.
Since the set is so big (dimensions 40.6 x 15.2 x 71.1 cm) two or three children can easily play with it together. We store it away against the wall, but when playing the children bring it out so that they can play from all angles.
If you have a Batman fan, we would definitely recommend this toy and I will be looking out for more DC Super Friends toys from Imaginext in future, as the amount of play time the boys have had with it is great. It keeps their interest for really long stretches of time and fuels plenty of imaginary play and story telling.
The Imaginext DC Super Friends Transforming Batcave is available for around £60, which is not a cheap toy but for the amount of play it offers I think it proves its worth.
