Christmas is such a fun time to bring out all the hands on activities, and these Christmas pattern block mats are always a hit with kids. If your little ones love working with pattern blocks, these themed mats are a great way to add a seasonal twist to your maths activities at home or in the classroom. They make a lovely quiet time activity, a calm morning starter, or a fun maths center to keep children busy during the run up to the holidays.

Pattern Block Mats and How to Use Them
Pattern block mats are simple printable pattern block templates that children use alongside their pattern blocks to build pictures, copy designs, and explore block combinations. You can print the mats and laminate them if you want to reuse them, or place them under a dry wipe sleeve.
Kids then lay the correct shapes on top, or build on a nearby surface to complete each picture. It’s an engaging way to work on spatial awareness, problem solving, and early geometry.
These work well for first grade students and all younger kids who enjoy hands on learning, and you can definitely use them at home too. Any standard pattern blocks will fit – the wooden ones, foam blocks, or even the plastic versions you can get in maths sets.
If you want to add more challenge, you can turn each design into a count and record activity by asking children to write how many of each block they used, using the section at the bottom of each pattern block printable mat.
You can use any brand of pattern blocks. We like the learning resources ones, but any work!
