Materials

  • Red, green, white, and black cardstock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pencil
  • Black marker
  • Ribbon (optional for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Materials. Gather all your supplies. Make sure you have red, green, white, and black cardstock, as well as scissors, glue, and a pencil.
  2. Take the piece of red cardstock and fold it in half.
  3. Draw an apple shape onto the red cardstock. You can make it as big or small as you like, depending on the size of your card, but make sure the shape touches the folded edges at the top of the apple.
  4. Cut out the apple shape carefully, making sure that you keep the folded edge in tact. Now you will have an apple shaped card, which opens.
  5. Draw and Cut the Apple Core. On the white cardstock, draw a smaller apple shape to fit within the red apple. This will be the core of your apple. Cut it out and glue it onto the red apple shape.
  6. Add the Seeds. Using the black cardstock, cut out small oval shapes to represent apple seeds. Glue these onto the white core of the apple.
  7. Make the Leaves. Draw leaf shapes on the green cardstock and cut them out. You can make one or two leaves, depending on your preference.
  8. Use the black marker to draw veins on the leaves for added detail.
  9. Glue the leaves to the top of the apple.
  10. If you want to add a little extra flair, tie a ribbon into a bow and glue it at the top of the apple near the leaves.
  11. Personalize Your Card. Write a message on the inside of the apple card. This could be a "Welcome Back to School" note or a "Thank You" message for a teacher. Encourage your child to add their own drawings or decorations to make it extra special.
