This yarn wrapped name craft is such a fun and creative activity for kids (or grown-ups too!). It’s perfect for making personalised bedroom décor, helping little ones learn name recognition, or even creating a sweet handmade gift with words like “MOM” or “DAD.”

You can keep it simple with a short name or go big with a full word, whatever suits your project!

We chose a lovely soft purple macrame cord and created the name “Zoe,” but you can use any colours you like and customise it to fit your child’s style or your home theme.

Materials

  • Macrame cord (any colour)
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Double-sided tape
  • Printout of the name or word you want to make

Instructions

  1. Start by printing or carefully writing out the name or word you want to create in bubble writing. You can do any size you like, but we did one letter per a4 paper.
  2. Cut out each letter to make your template
  3. Then trace them onto cardboard and cut them out again.
  4. Cover each cardboard letter with double-sided tape. This helps hold the macrame in place as you work.
  5. Wrap the macrame cord tightly around each letter until it’s fully covered. You can go in one direction or vary the pattern depending on the letter shape.
  6. Once wrapped, secure the ends with a glue stick to keep everything neat and tidy.
