Every now and then, a Halloween costume story comes along that feels pure magic, a mix of creativity, originality, and love. This year, one mom, Kat Tracy, made waves in the Wicked fan community when she shared her sons’ inspired take on the iconic Elphaba and Glinda. With a clever twist, they became Elpha-Boy and Guy-Linda, and fans couldn’t get enough.

Here’s what their mom shared:
“Back in April my oldest came to me and said he wanted to be Elpha-boy for Halloween and thought his little brother would make an excellent Guy-Linda. So I broke the news to Dad that there wouldn’t be any Star Wars costumes and we spent months figuring out a way to translate the costumes into something fun and functional but still pay homage to the characters both the boys love. So Canadian tuxedos it was!
They both had a blast and can’t wait to dress up one more time for our annual Halloween photo shoot. We got rained out last weekend so we pushed it to next weekend.
The book my oldest one is using in his photos is my original copy that I bought in 2003 shortly before the show premiered on Broadway. A friend of mine in college was a flying monkey in workshop/previews/and for its Broadway debut. He knew I was a huge Wizard of Oz fan. Got it for me and said ‘read this…I think you are gonna like it.’ …and he was right.”

The photos show two brothers absolutely shining in their roles – one with green face paint, a witch’s hat, and broom; the other with a sparkle wand, a pink shirt, and denim jacket channeling the cheerful energy of Glinda. It’s fun, it’s clever, and it’s filled with all the magic of Oz.
The response from the Wicked fan community was overwhelming. One fan wrote,
“…not gonna lie I’m bawling right now seeing you did this for your littles, I was always teased for having female role models and things of the feminine nature as a kid and seeing parents loving their kids correctly is amazing.”

These wicked costumes for boys are a great inspiration for easy wicked costumes men could adapt for themselves too, no matter the age.
Another mom added
“This is Ozmazing that you and your little ones have creatification to be real and authentic. Mom, you are the Shiz!!”
Others chimed in with “💚WONDERIFIC🩷”
and
“Mama! Oh my gosh you rocked this! NGL your choice to build their confidence is downright amazing! You could have said it was a girl costume but you went with it and built them up! We need more parents like you!”
These creative Wicked costumes have everyone talking, proving that the magic of Oz can inspire fans of all ages.
From the moment the photos were shared, people were amazed at how these homemade looks captured the spirit of the Wicked musical while putting a totally new spin on it in a way that’s fun, modern, and totally wearable for kids.

It’s a reminder that Wicked costumes for kids can be every bit as impressive as the elaborate Wicked costumes for adults, and that wicked costumes boy versions are totally possible!
Halloween is always full of witches, but there’s something special about Elphaba Wicked costumes. The “wicked witch” is iconic, bold, and instantly recognizable.

These boys’ imaginative takes remind us that costumes for Wicked don’t have to stay inside the box and that anyone can bring the Emerald City to life, broom and wand in hand.
As Wicked fans everywhere count down to Wicked For Good (The wicked movie part two) hitting cinemas soon, this story reminds us why these characters continue to resonate. Elphaba and Glinda’s story is about friendship, identity, and embracing who you are – messages that go far beyond gender or age.
Encouraging kids to love stories and characters that speak to them, regardless of whether they’re “for boys” or “for girls,” is exactly the kind of parenting that shapes confident, kind, imaginative people.

These two little brothers showed that the magic of Oz isn’t just for the stage, it can live right on your front porch, in green paint and denim jackets, with a broom and a wand side by side.
Something tells us that if Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande see these two, they’d absolutely love their tiny counterparts. After all, as Wicked fans know – everyone deserves their chance to fly.
