  2. Cut out the white penguin face and belly pieces (including the slot on the belly piece), then draw on the eyelashes with a marker.
  3. Glue the face piece to the top of the belly piece so you have one full penguin front panel.
  4. Attach the penguin front panel (the white face and belly) to the front of your black paper wrapped recycled box, lining up the holes
  5. Cut out the penguin extras - two black wings, a yellow beak, and two yellow feet.
  6. Add the beak to the center of the face, just under where the eyes will go. And glue the feet to the bottom corners of the belly so they look like they’re peeking out.
  7. Attach the wings to each side of the box so they stick out like flippers.
  8. Prepare the shapes for the eyes and bows using the templates
  9. Finish the face by adding the eyes and the bow on top, then touch up any outlines with your marker if needed.
  10. Your loveable valentines penguin box is all done

Penguins Make the Perfect Valentine Box Theme

Penguins are often associated with loyalty and teamwork, which fits beautifully with Valentine’s Day themes of love and friendship. Talking about penguins while making this craft can turn it into a mini learning moment too. Penguins live in cold climates, huddle together to stay warm, and take turns caring for their young, which is a lovely conversation starter about helping others and working together.

This penguin Valentine box is also a great alternative to the more common pink Valentine boxes. While it still works perfectly as a love themed box if you add hearts and Valentine colors, the penguin theme makes it stand out from other Valentine box ideas kids might bring to school.

Penguin Valentine Puns for Your Box

Adding a penguin Valentine pun to the front or back of the box makes it even more fun and personal. Kids love reading their own Valentine messages, and penguin puns are always a hit at Valentine parties.

You could write things like

  • “I’m totally waddling over you”
  • “You’re ice-solutely awesome.”
  • “I flippin’ love being your friend.”
  • “You make my heart flip”
  • “You’re o-fish-ally my favorite”
  • “Waddle I do without you?”

These little touches turn a simple Valentine box into a themed keepsake kids will be proud to show off at school.
