Paper Plate Leprechaun Craft

This paper plate leprechaun craft is a fun holiday activity that brings a cute little leprechaun to life! With a free printable template, popsicle sticks, and a pot of gold, kids can create their own leprechaun that moves just like an cheeky leprechaun hiding his treasure!

A great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with fine motor skills fun!

Materials

  • Construction paper (green, yellow, black)
  • Glue
  • Green paint
  • Paint brush
  • Paper plate
  • Popsicle stick aka craft stick
  • Glue stick

Tools

  • Printer for template

Instructions

  1. Paint the paper plate
    Start by painting the paper plate green, the classic St. Patrick’s Day color. Set it aside and let it dry completely.
  2. Prepare the template
    Print out the free leprechaun template and cut out the paper pieces. Use them as guides to trace the shapes onto the correct pieces of construction paper.
  3. Assemble the paper leprechaun
    Use a glue stick to attach the leprechaun’s face, leprechaun hat, and other parts together. Don’t forget the hat belt with its black band and yellow buckle!
  4. Continue assembling the entire leprechaun
  5. Also assemble the pot of gold using the template
  6. Attach the pot of gold
    Once the paper plate is dry, glue the pot of gold onto the front.
  7. Then, cut yellow circles for gold coins
  8. and add the small decorative circles to the pot to complete the design.
  9. Create a slit for the popsicle leprechaun
    Carefully cut a small slit just under the pot of gold. This is where your popsicle leprechaun will go!
  10. Make the leprechaun puppet
    Attach your assembled paper leprechaun to a popsicle stick, turning it into a cute St. Patrick’s Day craft that moves.
  11. Bring your leprechaun to life!
    Insert the popsicle stick leprechaun into the slit and have so much fun making it pop in and out like an elusive leprechaun hiding its gold!
