How To Make The Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree Craft

In this article, you will learn how to make a simple and fun DIY popsicle stick Christmas tree with your kids.

Supplies

To make your own easy and colorful Popsicle Stick Christmas Tree Craft with the kids you will need just a few basic craft supplies, you may have these at home already.

You can add some extra details with a few other craft supplies and let your kids get creative.

List of supplies:

  1. 2 Popsicle Sticks or Craft sticks.
  2. Pom poms.
  3. Pipe Cleaners.
  4. Green Acrylic paint.
  5. Scissors.
  6. Glue.
  7. Twine.

Step by Step instructions

Step 1:

Take two popsicle sticks according to the size you want your ornament to be. You can use regular craft sticks, or go for the Jumbo type.

Step 2:

Join the two ends of the popsicle shape diagonally making a “V” shape, using glue. You could use a glue dot or a hot glue gun.

Step 3:

Use green acrylic paint to paint the popsicle stick. Allow the paint to dry before moving to the next steps.

Alternatively you can buy coloured craft sticks and choose green ones, if you want to skip this step and save on mess.

Step 4:

Select a long colorful pipe cleaner, or glittery pipe cleaner. This part is where you can add some creativity and make your craft unique with each child, as everyone can use their favorite colors and designs for their own Christmas trees.

Step 5:

Wrap the pipe cleaner around the two popsicle sticks, making sure to tuck in the ends carefully.

Step 6:

Take another different colored pipe cleaner and wrap it around the popsicle sticks.

Step 7:

Glue colorful pom-poms onto the ornament to act as decorations. You could also add mini jingle bells to mix things up.

Step 8:

Cut out star shapes from glitter paper. For this step, you can use a star sticker if you prefer.

Step 9:

Glue the star on top of the Christmas tree ornament, or use a sparkly foam sticker star.

Step 10:

Take a long piece of twine or thick thread.

Make a loop with the twine and glue it on the back-top of the Christmas tree ornament.
