If your kids are fans of Big Hero 6, then it would be a great theme for a birthday party since there are so many cute ways to use the characters to create fun themed food and cakes, especially Baymax. We loved this movie when we saw it in the cinema, and it has quickly become one of our Disney favourites. I’ve collected 15 great Big Hero 6 cake and treat ideas that would be perfect for Big Hero 6 birthday parties, or just to make your movie night in that bit more special.
We always make sure to take time out regularly for fun family nights. Pizza and movie nights are always a favourite, and are a really easy way to spend quality bonding time together with the family. The kids always look forward to these nights, and so do I!
This week for our family pizza night, we tried out our local Papa Johns Pizza. They have a new Quality Guarantee ensuring that all ingredients used on the pizza are 100% fresh which was reassuring to know, because low quality food could put a dampener on the evening. Luckily, the Papa Johns Pizza lived up to our expectations and we all enjoyed our pizzas.
This week we’ve been taking the time to consider our family’s sugar intake and look at steps to reduce the amount of sugar, not necessarily to cut it out completely but to cut down and strike a healthier balance.
We’ve been working with Canderel on their #SweetSmart campaign and trying some of their products to help us out on our cutting out sugar mission.
I noticed that there are a few times throughout the day that I find myself consuming sugar unnecessarily, or feeling tempted to reach for a sweet treat to give myself an energy boost. A few simple changes for those habits could definitely add up over time and have a positive effect on my health, diet and well being.
Here’s a look at a few of those trouble spots throughout the day, and the swaps I have been making.
Here’s a lemony twist on an old family favourite for Easter. I love Hot Cross Buns. They are a yummy treat for all the family, but you could also use leftover fruited bread or even croissants for more variation on this recipe all year round.
T and I had fun making these super easy car chocolate treats for our Nick Jr Blaze party. They don’t require any cooking at all – simply construct them out of sweets. It is really manageable for young children to make independently and the finished results are so cute.

It’s fun to play around with different designs for the children’s lunches, and it often helps my boys to get more excited about their meal and eat fruits and vegetables more readily. Seasons and holidays make an ideal theme, so I decided to make over a normal lunch into a Springtime Bento lunch for the kids.
Chicken is a popular favourite for dinner time, that normally suits all ages within the family. Here’s a tasty way to cook chicken with some added citrus flavours.
Last weekend we went along to Bella Italia in Reading to check out the new kids menu and enjoy a family meal out. We hadn’t taken the children to Bella Italia before, and were impressed with the family friendly atmosphere and the fun options that were available. We all enjoyed the meal and will definitely go back again.
Here’s how we got on.
