Blue Lagoon Board Game Review

We love game nights as a way to spend quality time with our older kids on the weekends, and one of the great games we’ve tried out recently via the Asmodee Blogger Board Game Club is Blue Lagoon from Blue Orange.

Blue Lagoon is a two phase game, with the theme of settlers in a Polynesian, Pacific Islander type of blue lagoon paradise.  In the first phase of the game, you play within the water areas of the board and then the next phase sees your settlers moving onto the land. For newer players to the game, or younger players, you can play just the first phase until you feel confident and get the hang of the basics.

The game is strategy based, and has quite a few rules to get to grips with but once my kids got started (ages 8-11) they were soon able to understand the game and had a lot of fun with it. The aim of the game is to direct your people and build your settlements so you can collect as many Resources as possible and become the most renowned tribe on the archipelago.

Here’s an example of scoring from the instruction booklet.

Blue Lagoon is a beautifully made game, with lovely colourful graphics on the boards, counters and box, and wooden play pieces included too.

These wooden pieces represent the villages and resources that you collect during the game.

The counters are also double sided, so you turn them over to show whether they are on the water or on the land.

Blue Lagoon is a great game for families with older children of 8+ who enjoy strategy based games, and can be played with 2-4 players. We really enjoyed this game, and it is a brilliant addition to our game night collection.

Blue Lagoon is available from shops including Amazon for a current discounted price of £20.40
