Festive Family Traditions with the Snowman and the Snowdog

As a child, The Snowman was always a part of the Christmas season. I would always enjoy snuggling up on the sofa, with the lights sparkling on the Christmas tree nearby, and watching the beautifully animated movie which would always get me even more into the Christmas spirit!

My boys have enjoyed the animations and the books over the years too, and this year I’ve been introducing the story to our littlest family member, N. This year is her first proper Christmas, as she was born on Christmas morning last year so we spent the day at hospital. With a Christmas birthday, this time of year is even more special for us now, so I’m looking forward to making even more new traditions with our family.

We were sent a selection of The Snowman and the Snowdog festive gifts which are perfect to kick off the festive season and make the advent time magical.

The Snowman and the Snowdog are both such lovely heartwarming stories, and it’s great that the stories are available in lots of different formats. The Snowman Paperback from Puffin (RRP: £7.99) tells the classic story, in illustrations only allowing you to tell the story from the pictures and mimics the style of the animation, with the story being told wordlessly.

I also really liked The Snowdog Shaped Board Book from Puffin (RRP: £7.99) as this is perfect for little N’s stage right now, with thicker pages for baby and toddlers to handle, and a really simple rhyming story on the pages.

Personalised The Snowman and The Snowdog book (RRP £17.99 (softcover)) is such a sweet book to treasure. When I was little, my granny bought a personalised Christmas book for my sister and I and we used to get it out each year and feel so excited to see our names inside the story. It really was something special, and I’m sure N will enjoy her personalised The Snowman and The Snowdog book just as much.

Of course the stories are also available in DVD for the animation version, with The Snowman and The Snowdog DVD from Universal (RRP: £9.99)

N is also really loving the Cuddly Snowman from Rainbow Designs (RRP: £15.99) which is so cute! He’s already become a firm favourite and he is getting lots of hugs and kisses!

As well as having baby N here for her first proper Christmas this year, my mum and dad are moving house at the moment and hopefully will be settled in and a lot nearer to us just in time for Christmas. So I’m really looking forward to having new traditions in their new home, and being able to get all the family and cousins together since we will all be so much nearer. As we will be hopefully at my parent’s house for Christmas, I will be bringing this cute little Snowdog decoration to go on my mum’s tree.

The Snowdog Decorations from Wild in Art (RRP £7.80 for one and £26 for set of 4) are really nicely made, beautiful quality and I think they are so charming! These are new for 2017.

Naturally, food is a big part of the festive traditions too! We loved this super cute Snowman biscuit card from Biscuiteers (RRP: £10.95), which looks just like the real snowman (but tastier 😉 )

Last but not least, we will be kicking off advent on Dec 1st with some lovely The Snowman advent calendars from Thorntons. You’re spoilt for choice with the different varieties available, The Snowman Advent Calendar from Thorntons (RRP £10.00) or Thorntons The Snowman Personalised Advent Calendar (RRP £7.00) are both really special
