The boys and I enjoyed watching Snoopy And Charlie Brown The Peanuts Movie when it was out in the cinema, and now that it’s coming out on DVD and digital download, we were happy to get the chance to watch it again!
Snoopy And Charlie Brown The Peanuts Movie Review

Snoopy And Charlie Brown The Peanuts Movie is the first full length movie featuring the classic characters, Snoopy and Charlie Brown from Charles M Schultz’s comic strips. It’s made by Blue Sky Studios and distributed by 20th Century Fox.

The movie is a sweet story about Charlie Brown, a boy who is well loved and popular, but always has the habit of being clumsy and making a lot of mistakes. In the movie, a stylish new red headed girl moves into the street and Charlie Brown is immediately taken with her, and sets out to impress her and win her friendship.

The story sees him taking part in all kinds of activities to try to get the girl’s attention, like taking part in the school talent show with a magic act, trying to learn exotic dance moves with his loyal dog snoopy, impressing with his 100% school marks, and eventually getting paired up to the new girl for his book report.

With each of the attempts that Charlie Brown makes, something always seems to go wrong! He is a real underdog, and we were rooting for him throughout the movie, and were glad to see he did get his happy ending (sorry for the spoiler if you haven’t seen it yet!)

My kids favourite part is the bit when Charlie Brown was psyching himself up to go and ring the new girl’s doorbell, and was about to back out when Snoopy rushes up and presses it for him, meaning he can’t get out of it. We also loved the bits with their dancing.

There is a side story in the movie with Snoopy and his arch nemesis the Red Baron, although this didn’t fit in so well for us. We enjoyed the Charlie Brown aspect of the story more – although Snoopy is very cute!

Overall, both the adults and the children in our family enjoyed this movie and I would recommend it as a good choice for a family movie night.
