We had never been to Brewer’s Fayre before, so we went along this week to check it out for the first time and try out the Autumn menu at one of our local restaurants, the Rising Sun in Watford.
We were really happy with our meal at Brewer’s Fayre and found that it was a lovely family friendly environment and all of the staff were really welcoming and friendly. Since Brewer’s Fayre are known as pub restaurants, I wasn’t sure what kind of environment to expect but it was very light and spacious and modern in decor. Our local Brewer’s Fayre is really big, which I prefer since you get plenty of space between the tables and don’t need to worry too much about the kids chit chat disturbing other diners.
There are colouring pages and crayons provided for the children to keep them busy, and a great value kids menu where the main course is 4.99 and then the starter or dessert are only 50p extra each. There’s a choice of 8 main meals for the children, which is a decent selection and there were plenty of things to keep our boys happy, from spaghetti Bolognese to fish bites and chips.
For the grown ups, there’s a wide selection of food with starters, classic mains, finest catch (fish dishes), a taste of classic americana, fresh from the grill, spice things up, pasta and salads, snacks, sides, and of course desserts.
New highlights of the Autumn menu include the Ultimate Sausage And Mash, with a new, larger Yorkshire pudding – perfect for a pick me up on a cold Autumn day. A new Chicken and Ham Pie provides a hearty lunch or dinner, whilst curry lovers can choose from FOUR brand new curry options, including Chicken Balti, Beef Rendang and Vegetable or Chicken Biriyani. For dessert lovers, a new Family Sharer Dessert means the whole family can indulge together.
For our mains, my husband and I both got fish options with him going for the classic fish and chips and the fish pie for me. We were both happy with the taste and the good value for these. It is classic comforting food, which is just what you want during Autumn, and with the good value prices it’s a great way to get a break from cooking now and then.
There are lots of dessert options too, for children and for adults, including sharing options. The kids enjoyed doughnuts, brownie and chocolate ice cream.
For adults there are some great options like a kit kat sundae (which is huge!)
Day time Value Offer
If you’re visiting mid week, take advantage of the day Daytime Value offer which runs from 12 – 6pm Monday to Friday and means guests can enjoy two starters for £2.50, two mains for just £10.99* and two desserts for £2.50 – which makes eating out really affordable.
If you have never been before, I would recommend trying it out and hopefully you will like it! It’s great for a relaxing family friendly meal out, and I’m sure we will be back to our local Brewer’s Fayre again. Even without visiting during the day time value offer time, you can still feed the family for around £10 a head as our meal came to just over £50 for 5 people when we visited during the evening.
