Annabel Karmel has a new family cooking app, with lots of handy family friendly recipes plus a unique “kids rule the kitchen” section which allows children to learn cooking through play.
We went along to Kidzania to meet Annabel and learn some kid friendly cake decorating techniques, as well as trying out the app for ourselves.
Our favourite of the kids cake decorating ideas had to be these fish cupcakes, they are so simple and look really effective.
Before decorating the cakes for real, kids can go through the steps on the app, which my boys all enjoyed.
It’s a good way for them to remind themselves of the ingredients of a recipe so that they can feel more confident with the process when they are in the kitchen cooking. This section of the app is designed to feed children’s imaginations whilst teaching essential cooking skills, and is suitable for children of 4+
My boys have been playing with the app at home too, and all find it easy to use. They can just choose any recipe, and then work their way through it in an interactive ‘drag and drop’ cookery lesson, before cooking the real thing with me in the kitchen.
After watching a demonstration from Annabel, the boys had a go themselves and made some lovely creative fish and bear designed cupcakes which they had fun putting together, and eating afterwards!
The bear cupcakes are really effective too. I have always found this with Annabel Karmel’s cake ideas – they are realistic and easily achievable but look great! I would recommend getting the app as a fun and easy way to try out some of the recipes.
