Safe Breaker is a fun new electronic game from Yulu, it’s not technically a board game as it doesn’t have a board, but is a great game to play together with the family. Safe Breaker is suitable for 2-4 players, and is recommended for players aged 6 and over, which I would say is about right.
The game comes with an electronic safe (requires 3x AA batteries), which you can see in the picture above, 18 number cards, and 15 gold coins which you need to collect by cracking the code in the safe. To do this you’ll need the listening stethoscope which also come with the game.
The rules of the game are quite simple – you need to find the correct number to open the safe, and the stethoscope will help you by making a high or low sound to indicate if the number card you’ve picked is too low or too high. But you can also get a police siren sound, meaning that you have been caught!
Each time you track the code, and manage to open the safe, you’ll get between one and three coins and the first person to successfully get 5 coins (or two diamonds) from the safe, is the winner of the game.
The spy and safe breaker concept is fun and appealed to all of my boys. It’s something a bit different, with fun sound effects like the alarm sounds or the cha-ching sound of money. Safe Breaker is something my kids can either play together with their brothers or friends, but also fits the bill as a fun game for us parents to play with them too. Each game only lasts around 20 minutes, so it is fairly quick.
Since the game revolves around numbers, it’s a fun way to sneak in a bit of extra numeracy into your playtime too.
Safe Breaker is available from toy shops including Amazon, for around RRP 24.99
