Summer Fun with the Amazon Appstore

With the Summer holidays almost upon us, I’m starting to plan how we’re going to spend our six weeks off. My boys love to keep active, playing outside and taking part in organised activities but equally, I know that they need some down time and the chance to re-charge during their school break. We all enjoy playing games and watching movies, and have been trying out the new Amazon Fire Tablet which is a great all round entertainment device, and amazing value at only 49.99!

The New Fire tablet 7” just came out in June and is an improved version of Amazon’s bestselling tablet, but thinner, lighter and more durable. It also now has Alexa (voice assistant) for quick access to information.

The Amazon Fire Tablet gives access to a wide selection of apps on the Amazon app store, with popular games like Angry Birds (the boys choice) and Candy Crush (my choice!) along with good quality educational games, and the ability watch Prime video or read Kindle books.

The App store includes popular family titles like PAW Patrol Pups Take Flight, Peppa pig, Toca Life, apps from BBC, Disney and many more so you can easily find something to suit your children’s ages and interests.

My boys have particularly been enjoying this Score! Hero game on our Fire tablet, which was a new discovery for them. They’re very into football at the moment, and loved the personalisation that’s included in this game.

Using a tablet is a great way to keep learning ticking over during the Summer too, making it fun and interactive for them. We downloaded Hit the Button Maths which is suitable for older kids, as we’ll have two kids in Junior school come September, and they’re expected to know their times tables really well. This game is a simple way for them to challenge themselves and test their knowledge of those.

There are loads of brilliant learning apps for little ones in the Amazon app store too, especially for teaching phonics and reading. It won’t be too long before I’ll need to download those for baby N.

The Fire tablet is strong and holds up well to every day life, and use by kids. It’s also handy to take out when going on long journeys, and for keeping the children occupied when staying with family.

Check out the Amazon app store here, and browse all of the games and apps that you can enjoy on the new Fire tablet.

  1. These all look like so much fun! I definitely need to update some of our apps and find some new ones for my 7 year old to enjoy over the summer.

  2. We don’t have any Amazon products but the Fire tablets are such great value that may well change soon. I love the sound of the maths app, one of mine struggles with her times tables so much. Mich x
