If you’re welcoming a new baby this Christmas, it can be hard to know what to buy them as you may have already stocked up on the essentials, and they’re too young to really be aware of presents. I know that a lot of mums do like to get a few bits wrapped up though, so that baby is included in the festivities – and if you have older children, so that they don’t ask “why has Santa forgotten the baby?!”

Baby Clothes
There are so many cute Christmassy clothes around, or you could go for something a bit party-ish to celebrate the festive season! Here are a few bits that we’ve got ready for Christmas
Robin applique sleepsuit from JoJo Maman Bebe: This is an adorable sleepsuit for a more traditional look. I like that Robins are really Christmassy, but not something you see everywhere so it’s a bit more unique and the colours are gorgeous too. JoJo Maman Bebe have loads of other designs that would be lovely for Christmas too, including more boyish ones so do have a browse.
Boots Miniclub Penguin All in One: Another super cute and comfy Christmas sleepsuit for the youngest member of your family! I love the detail on this, like the little penguin feet and the darker part of the penguins body is made from a super soft material which feels lovely! This one is a great unisex option – for any little Christmas surprises!
Baby Stocking Fillers
If you’re doing a little stocking for your baby, then what about some little teethers, or small toys, age appropriate snacks if they’re a little older and of weaning age, or the award winning Cuddleduck from Cuddledry which makes a nice little stocking filler at under £10
Practical Gifts
With winter babies, anything that keeps them nice and warm and snuggly is always appreciated. Practical gifts can be great, especially if you give good quality brands that can be used and used over and over. You can use it in the car seat, in the pushchair or even in the cot – so you can easily transfer your sleeping little one from place to place. Keep Sakes
Sometimes it’s nice to get something that baby can keep as they grow up. Watches or a special piece of jewellery are a popular choice. You could even give pre-owned watches especially if it’s one that’s been passed down from another dear family member.
A special book is also a lovely idea, as it will be read often and baby can remember the giver each time as they grow up – especially if you write a personal message in it.
The Folio Society have really nice hard back editions of books that make a lovely gift. We were given The Nursery Rhyme Book By Andrew Lang Introduced by Michael Rosen Illustrated by Debra McFarlane and L. Leslie Brooke (RRP: £36.95), which has all of the classic nursery rhymes in it and more that you may not have come across!
For New or Expectant Mums
Of course the babies get most of the attention! But it’s always appreciated to get something to treat the new mums too. Love Boo have lots of gift sets that would make a perfect present, or you can buy their products separately too, like the miracle oil, bosom buddy cream, bath soaks or mummy balm.
If you’re able to splash out a bit more for a gadget, then I’m sure any new mum would really appreciate a robot vacuum cleaner to save some time on the house work! My own mum has one of these and is always telling me how great it is, so I would love one myself. Everyone knows how busy you get with a newborn so anything that makes life easier is a real plus.
