As soon as I heard about the new game, Pokken Tournament, that’s available on Wii U, I knew that this game would be a definite hit with my kids who are big Pokemon fans and always enjoy games with PVP elements.

Pokken Tournament allows you to take control of Pokemon and experience battles in a dynamic real time setting. The game is developed by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, creators of the renowned King of the Iron-Fist tournament series TEKKEN® and is accessible to players of all skill levels while still giving more advanced players plenty to learn and master.

All amiibo are compatible with Pokkén Tournament. They unlock items including in-game currency, accessories, titles, and more! Those who purchase the first production run version of the game will also receive a special Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card, which can be tapped to the Wii U GamePad to unlock the Shadow Mewtwo as a playable character in the game.

As I expected, my kids really love this game. It’s definitely become one of their favourite games and has been played a lot since we got it, with no sign of them getting bored of this game at all. They were quickly able to master the controls, and get to grips with all of the features.

I have also played the game battling some Pokemon against my kids, and found it easy enough to handle (as a not very good gamer myself!) and enjoyed playing the game. The graphics are great, with 3D Pokemon and plenty of detail.

Since my 7 year old, Z, enjoys the game so much he also decided to write up his review of it which I’ll share with you below:

Pokken Tournament is epic!

Pokken Tournament is a fantastic battling game! The different parts of Pokken are practice, single battle, Ferrum leagues, online mode and live battle. In Pokken you go on an adventure to battle Shadow Mewtwo. The first time he has 1000 health points. The next time he has the same amount of health points. The next time he has 3000 health points! Normally Pokemon have 470-670 health points, so it is very hard! Ferrum leagues is my favourite part of Pokken. You do battles to increase your ranking [Green league from 40 D] [Blue leagues from 60 C] [Red leagues from 80 B] [Chroma leagues from 90 A] [Unlock when finished chroma league. iron league from 100 S.] I like live battle, when I battle my brother [He gets angry when I beat him in the game!] And I always beat him!

THE CHARACTERS

When I got Mewtwo he flipped to the lead. Charizard used to be my favourite. Then when I got Shadow Mewtwo, he got to be my favourite! The characters I can remember are Charizard, Mewtwo, Shadow Mewtwo, Blaziken, Braken, Gargomp, Syeny, Pikachu, Pikachu Libre and Machamp! My mum’s favourite is Pikachu Libre! Support Pokemon jump out and attack. When the Synergy gauge is full Pokemon get SUPER POWERFULL!

MY SNEAKEY TACTICS

I often go to combo fighting to learn some cool attacks! Mewtwo has an epic move[ yyy] [y] fire punch] [y] ice punch] [y] electric punch. POW! Metow’s burst attack is a great pull back to have but you need to get close! I recommend being someone with long range attacks. The attack triangle is GRAB ATTACKS BEAT COUNTER ATTACKS BEAT NORMAL ATTACKS BEAT GRAB ATTACK. If you rapidly press x y a etc it will start a combo. POW! POW!!!

Will you become a Pokken master Like ME?!?

If you like following stories Pokemon X and Y is for you! If you like your free will and 3D Pokemon then this game is for you!

Pokken Tournament is available for around 39.99 in stores, or to download from the Nintendo e-store. Click here to see more and buy the game on Amazon.
