This Pom Pom Painting Easter Egg craft is a fun way to get in some fine motor practice with the kids, and to explore painting with different materials.
You could use the finished Easter egg pictures to make simple Easter cards, or turn them into seasonal Easter decorations for the home, or to decorate for your Easter Egg hunt.
The finished Easter Eggs look great with bold and bright colours!
Pom Pom Painting Easter Craft
This activity is fun for kids of all ages but especially suitable for toddlers and preschoolers.
Materials and supplies
To make this simple Easter craft with the kids you will need
- White paper or card stock (or use a canvas and add this to your easter decorations!)
- washable paints
- clothes pins or pegs
- pom poms
- marker
- Paper plate or paint palette
Instructions
Use the marker to draw an egg shape on the paper, or use our free printable Easter egg templates (download at the end of this blog post)
Pick up the pom poms with the clothes pins. This pincer activity is tricky for little hands, but the challenge is great for strengthening little hand muscles and building those fine motor skills.
We used various types of pom poms and cotton balls for a different effect. The spikey pom poms were my favorite, if you dab it just right the imprint resembles a firework!
Let the kids experiment and play around with the different looks of each pom pom or cotton balls.
Pick out your favorite colors of paints, and get busy making patterns with the paints.
To add a little sparkle, sprinkle glitter onto the wet paint. It will act as a glue and stick once dry!
