Did you know, A.A Milne’s birthday is on the 18th January? To celebrate, we’re joining in with a group of other bloggers for a Winnie the Pooh series to share all things Winnie the Pooh, from crafts, to sensory play, food ideas, or any other activity linked in to the classic book character.
We decided to make a paper plate Winnie the Pooh craft
To make the paper plate Winnie the Pooh, you will need:
- Yellow paper plate
- Black sharpie and / or black paint
- Scissors
- Glue or double sided tape
- Red felt
To help us with our Winnie the Pooh paper plates, we used this video from Disney Hollywood Studios which teaches you how to draw Winnie the Pooh, in a front facing position.
If you or your kids want to learn how to draw various Disney characters, these videos are super and very helpful, so do check out the others on their channel too.
So, using the video we drew our basic Winnie the Pooh on to the paper plate. We used a dry wipe pen, and rubbed out the edges when we had finished cutting, and then painted over the black lines for Pooh’s features that we wanted to keep.
Then cut away the un-needed edges to leave the Winnie the Pooh shape.
To make Winnie the Pooh’s red t-shirt, we measured some red felt for size, and then stuck it on to the bottom of the plate with double sided tape. (Stick the tape first to the plate, and then peel off and stick the felt rather than sticking to the felt first, as it’s not easy to peel it that way)
You could also cut out holes in the eyes, and make your paper plate Winnie the Pooh into a mask. Punch a hole in each side and add elastic to wear the mask easily, or add a craft stick at the bottom to hold up the mask.
