By In The Playroom

With the new Star Wars movie coming out in just a couple of weeks, Star Wars is more popular than ever before. If you have Star Wars fans in the family, there are some great Star Wars books available that tie in to their interest. We were sent some lovely Star Wars books to review, and luckily we’re able to offer on In The Playroom reader the chance to win some of these books for their family too.

Star Wars books as gift ideas for Star wars fans this Christmas

These are the great Star Wars books that we received. My kids were really excited to check them all out!

Star Wars Star Fighter Workshop:

This book combines an activity book at the front, with a craft kit at the back that allows you to build your own Star Wars X-Wing and Tie fighter. This is a really good hands on book for kids that like to engage actively and “do” something with their books.

The book is recommended for 7+ and I would say is about right, since younger children may have difficulty with the models (although they could do it with grown up support), but for a 7 year old or older they will get the most benefit from the activity. The model is made from thick cardboard that you push out from the back of the book, as Z will show you in our video.

The Star Wars Treasury:

This book is a lovely illustrated edition that tells the stories of the original trilogy. If you have kids who haven’t seen the original movies (As ours haven’t yet!) but have got into Star Wars via watching the cartoons on Disney XD, or because they like Star Wars toys or have started to hear about the new movie coming out, then this book is a great way to introduce them to the older stories that make up the original trilogy.

The book has plenty of detail, and is a lovely one to share together as bed time stories for the younger children, or for older children to read through and enjoy independently. Those who have watched all of the movies would enjoy re reading and enjoying their favourite Star Wars stories once again.

Two Star Wars Young Readers Titles

I’m a big fan of the young readers range, especially when you can get books like these that incorporate favourite characters or stories into a reading book that’s just at the right level for a young child, to encourage them with their reading and build up their confidence. These are perfect for my 5 year old who is in year 1, but my 4 and 7 year old both enjoy them too.

These books tell the stories in a simplified shortened version, which is particularly good for younger children.

  1. The Star Wars Workshop Activity book looks awesome! Although I know my husband will end up ‘helping’ (taking over) with the make! 😉

  2. The young reader ones look fab, my niece is really into Star Wars and she’s becoming so much better with her reading so these would be perfect for her.
