With the cold and rainy weather these days, you can’t blame me for day dreaming about a bit of summer sun. We’ve been thinking about getting away to soak up a bit of sunshine and boost our mood. It would definitely be a welcome change from these grey skies and all the coughs and colds everyone in our house seem to be picking up at the moment.
We had been thinking about going to Sri Lanka over Christmas, especially since we have family there, and it offers great weather all year round. December is supposed to be one of the best times to visit. Of course, the neighbouring Maldives is always popular during Winter too! (Sri Lanka can be slightly better value though and offers more variety if you want to travel around the country)
Another destination that’s high on our list for winter sun would be Florida. We’re really keen to take the kids to Disney also to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Orlando, and luckily they have plenty of sun all year round. Quite a few years back we visited California in Winter and the weather there was lovely (unlike New York where we went straight afterwards, and froze – so I wouldn’t really recommend that one for Winter!) The USA can be a great place for a winter holiday as long as you choose your state carefully!

I would always choose Italy! never been, but heard so many positive things AND I’m a little bit Italian!! so must go one day.

My favourite place to visit for a short break is Lisbon. The people are so friendly. Plus the food is absolutely delicious.
