The Lion King is back, and this time in TV form. The Lion King was undoubtedly one of the biggest Disney movies of the 90s, so I know I’m not the only one excited to see these characters being brought back. It’s great when our childhood favourites can span the generations! With the new Disney Junior show, kids will get to know and love the new character of Kion, the son of Simba and Nala, and I have a feeling it’s going to be great!

The epic storytelling of Disney’s “The Lion King” continues with “The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar,” a brand new television movie premiering in February 2016 on Disney Channel. The movie follows Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, as he takes on the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals tasked with preserving the Pride Lands. The movie is a precursor to “The Lion Guard” television series, airing later in 2016 on Disney Junior.

THE LION GUARD - The epic storytelling of Disney's "The Lion King" continues with "The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar," a primetime television movie event starring Rob Lowe, Gabrielle Union and James Earl Jones, reprising his iconic role as Mufasa. Premiering this November on Disney Channel, the movie follows Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, as he assumes the role of leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals tasked with preserving the Pride Lands. "The Lion Guard" television series will premiere in early 2016 on Disney Channels and Disney Junior channels around the globe. (Disney Junior) NALA, KION, SIMBA

Set in the African Savanna, “The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar” follows lion cub, Kion as he brings together the members of the Lion Guard. While traditionally the Lion Guard has been made up of a group of lions known for their fierceness, bravery, speed, strength and sharp, Kion instead breaks tradition by calling on some of his friends – Bunga the honey badger, Ono, the egret, Fuli, the cheetah and Beshte, the hippo – who he believes best symbolise these heroic qualities.

Throughout the movie and the series, this diverse bunch of young animals will learn how to use each of their unique abilities to solve problems and complete tasks to maintain the balance within the Circle of Life, whilst also introducing young viewers to the diverse range of animals that inhabit the amazing African landscape.

THE LION GUARD - Disney Television Animation has begun production on "The Lion Guard," an animated television movie and series that continues the story introduced 20 years ago in the acclaimed Disney animated film "The Lion King." Geared towards kids aged 2-7 and their families, "The Lion Guard" television movie will premiere in fall 2015 and the subsequent series will debut in early 2016 on Disney Junior and Disney Channel. James Earl Jones and Ernie Sabella reprise their roles from “The Lion King” as Mufasa and Pumbaa, respectively, alongside Rob Lowe (“The Grinder”) as Simba and Gabrielle Union (“Being Mary Jane”) as Nala. Max Charles (“The Strain”) stars as Kion. The voice cast also includes Joshua Rush (“The Adventures of Puss in Boots”) as Kion’s best friend, Bunga, a fearless honey badger; Atticus Shaffer (“The Middle”) as Ono, an intellectual egret; Diamond White (“Sofia the First”) as Fuli, a confident cheetah; and Dusan Brown (“Blaze and the Monster Machines”) as Beshte, a friendly and good-spirited hippo.
