With the release of the new Star Wars movie around the corner, Star Wars is huge this year! If you’re looking for a Star Wars gift for a child that’s a bit different you could take a look at some of the products available from Flair’s Uncle Milton Star Wars range.

We were sent the Death Star Planetarium to review. This is a table top projector that works in a dark room to turn your ceiling either into the Star Wars galaxy, or show a view of Earth’s night sky.

When you open the box, some minor assembly is required – you’ll have to fit the bulb (supplied) and add your own batteries (3x AA). The planetarium comes with a small clear plastic stand, a cover, and an insert that’s used to transform the Star Wars galaxy into the Earth’s night sky with stars

To switch the planetarium on or off there’s a small button on the side which is easy to use, and it lights up very brightly in a dark room. We did find it hard to find the best position to get everything clearly projected on to the ceiling at the right size and focused, but with some trial and error you’ll find the best place within your room.

This is the Star Wars galaxy shown on the ceiling, displaying all the different parts of the galaxy. We put this in Z’s room (age 7) and he thought it was pretty cool.

The Star Wars galaxy projection gives off more light than the Earth’s stars projection, since that uses an additional cover over the light:

We liked how the planetarium has two different effects, and is really simple to change between the two. I would prefer if it would be more easy to focus, so that you could get a good projection from anywhere in the room but it is still fun for Star Wars fans and a good option if you’re looking for something a bit different.
