KidZania is a fantastic day out for kids, with lots of jobs for them to do and activities to take part in. We have visited before soon after it opened, but now there is something new that has made this even more awesome than before in my kids eyes: the new Pokemon Animation Studio at Kidzania. We were so happy to be invited along to try it out on the opening day.

The Pokémon Animation Studio is the first of its kind in Europe. The creative activity has been designed especially for kids and lasts around 20 minutes. Children are able to make their own Pokemon short film using stop-motion animation techniques.

We went along last weekend to try it out for ourselves and my boys really enjoyed themselves making simple films with their favourite Pokemon characters like Ash and Pikachu.

I think this activity is a great addition to KidZania. As well as early Kidzos for more traditional work like being a Firefighter or a news reporter, kids will earn Kidzos for their work in the Pokemon animation studio too. It’s a great way to give them a taste of some of the different career options that are out there – especially since so many children will say that they want to make videos, or work in this type of job when they’re older. Since they have the enthusiasm then why not let them try it out for real in a kid friendly environment like this, and find out what’s involved!

To make the short films, young animators will be split up into pairs, one director and one producer, who will be assigned their own studio booth. Each booth is equipped with the latest stop-motion animation software, and children will have the remainder of the session to create the ending of the short film using the TOMY Pokémon figures and props provided. At the end of the session, their masterpieces will be displayed on a screen outside the establishment for parents to see their work.

My boys loved making the films, and watching their films back, and they can’t wait to go back and try it out again!

All of my boys loved it, but my 7 year old probably got to grips with it the best, and it’s perfect for that age group.

An experience like no other, KidZania London is the UK’s first educational entertainment experience. It’s a real-life introduction to the world of work, representing experiential learning at its very best. Children begin to understand and learn for themselves the diversity and function of businesses, the nature of work, and its overall contribution to well-being and prosperity in our world today.

KidZania, which has welcomed over 42 million visitors worldwide, is a global phenomenon and one of the world’s fastest-growing educational entertainment brands, with 20 locations across five continents including places such as Mexico, Dubai, Tokyo, and Istanbul.

If you haven’t been before, we would definitely recommend checking it out. And if you have been before, you’ll have to pop back to have a go at the new Pokemon Animation Studio!

  1. My brother-in-law would love the Pokemon animation studio. I wonder if it’s ok for men in their 20’s? He could always take my daughter with him and say it’s her idea.
