Brain Boost is a fun educational subscription box for 2-12 year old children, offering a choice of three boxes which are tailored to children’s age and development; Preschool for 2-4 year olds, Early School for 5-8 year olds, and School for 9-12 year olds.
Each box has five games, one project, one book, and all the resources you need to play, and focuses on promoting the five core skills to success, namely; Creativity, Communication, Emotional Intelligence, Intellectual and Physical ability.
I tried out the Early School box with my 5 year old who has just started year 1, but as the range suggests, the activities would also be suitable for my oldest boy who is 7.
The box comes addressed to your child, and is a real wealth of ideas. If you follow every activity within the box, there is hours of learning in there and some of the games and activities can be adapted and expanded on further once you have finished playing.
T enjoyed all of the activities in his box. We spread them out over several days and let him do one activity per session. Some of the activities can be repeated over and over again too, so by subscribing to the boxes you would build up a great collection of resources. I can see this being really handy for home schoolers, and of course if you just want to supplement your child’s learning after school as I like to do with my kids.
Each activity comes in it’s own ziplock bag with an instruction sheet and the supplies needed to complete that task. One of the activities in our box required magnetic letters, so the box included a really nice quality box of those too which we will be able to use for lots of things since it’s such a versatile resource.
T’s favourite activity within the box (and my 7 year old’s favourite too) was the deadly animals DIY top trumps game. I was really impressed with how much concentration T showed while doing this. He worked really hard to make his cards, using the information sheet he was given and was clearly very motivated by this activity – a perfect choice for this age group.
The box includes a great variety of games, from the active and physical, to games focusing on social and emotional development to help children understand emotions.
It’s pretty comprehensive, and is different to other subscription boxes we have tried in the past as it focuses on all aspects of education, whereas a lot of the previous boxes we’ve tried have had a stronger focus on arts and crafts alone. It’s great that you can even get boxes for age 9-12 too as that’s something I haven’t seen anywhere!

I love the activities – these sound like a great subscription box (and that’s coming from someone who’s pretty picky about subscription boxes, lol!)
We take it as a real compliment Emma that you like our Brainboost Box activities, particularly in light of the fact you confess to be pretty picky about subscription boxes.
This looks like a great range of activities and really good value for a monthly subscription.
