Parachute cords aka paracords are the big crafting trend this summer. Loom bands seem to have passed for now, and paracords are the current big thing. These thick cords can be ties into all kinds of bracelets, but you don’t have to stop there, you can make all types of cool things with them.

The paracord bracelets are pretty cool, and are a craft which will appeal to boys as well as girls which is always a welcome thing – especially as boys get older and often less interested in some of the other craft types. If you get lost in the woods, and have your paracord bracelet – you could open it up to get a longer length of strong useable rope, making them a great survival item too! (as well as making them cooler in kids eyes!)

crafting with parachute cord aka paracord. More than just braceletsMaking paracord bracelets is better suited to older children as it does need some dexterity and strong fine motor skills. You’ll also need an adult around if you cut the paracord and need to seal the ends.

Once you’ve mastered bracelets, why not move on to other crafts and see where that takes you.
