Over May half term, we enjoyed a lovely family holiday in Camping Cypsela in Pals on the Costa Brava in Spain. It was such a relaxing holiday and we found plenty of keep the whole family happy. If you’re considering staying at Camping Cypsela, I’ll give you an overview of the campsite and come back soon for details of the days out that we enjoyed in the region.
We stayed in Camping Cypsela with Canvas holidays, in a select 3 bed mobile home which comes with a generous sized deck, and is air conditioned. The accommodation was very clean and modern, and was comfortable for our family – although we spent most of our time outside or out at the pool since the weather was so lovely.
Cypsela campsite has plenty of facilities to keep the family entertained, including our favourite: the pool which my boys absolutely loved because of the water slides.
The pool has a separate shallower paddling pool area nearby to the slides which gave me more peace of mind since my boys are not all strong swimmers.
There is a larger deep pool for those who do require that, and also another separate pool with diving boards. Around the pool there are plenty of sun loungers, where I took the opportunity to relax while letting the boys splash around with their dad. There is also play equipment and a sandy area nearby to the pool. Within the campsite there is a supermarket which sells plenty of water toys along with the groceries so it’s easy to stock up on arm bands, beach balls, water shooters and anything else you need – and the prices are very reasonable there too.
The on-site facilities include more children’s playgrounds, along with bowling and mini golf, which my boys love so they were excited to try these out. There’s a small extra cost for bowling and mini golf, but it is very reasonable and everything is in good condition and the bowling was brand new – having recently been renovated.
There are children’s clubs and sports that you can take part in too, although some are only open in high season which would be during the summer holidays.
There are even hairdressers on site, which came in handy for us – since we were away all half term, the boys wouldn’t have had chance to fit in a hair cut with their normal hair dressers at home – and the hair dressers did a great job with them.
We tried out the takeaway and one of the restaurants on site and were always happy with the service and quality. The food in the restaurant includes a lot of dishes geared towards British tourists, so if you want to get some more authentic local food then you should try eating outside of the campsite too, but they have a great range of desserts and ice creams which the children were really impressed with. Z chose the biggest ice cream ever, and R got one that comes served inside a helicopter toy. The waiters are always very friendly and welcoming, as are all of the staff on site . The Canvas staff are all British which is good to know in case your Spanish is a little rusty! (like mine)
Camping Cypsela has a lovely sandy beach nearby, and if you like you can take the complimentary bus directly there – although we drove since that’s easier for us. We drove out to explore a couple of other beaches nearby too, but there is plenty to do on site so if you prefer to stay in Cypsela and relax you won’t find yourselves getting bored.
I would definitely recommend this campsite, and Canvas holidays, for families with children. Our holiday had a great balance of relaxation and activities and the children were smiling throughout.

We travelled to Spain via Brittany Ferries which was included with our Canvas booking and is a really convenient way to travel with kids. Although your journey will take longer than flying, we found it made the trip really easy as we could just drive through check in, and then you’re free to move around the ferry during your entire journey. Our ferry docked at Santander so we did have a long drive to arrive at Cypsela, and we split this on the way back to make a stop at Zaragoza. Never been to the Costa Brava, and only went to Spain when I was much younger. Looks so much fun and the weather looks fantastic, ty for the post, feeling inspired x
