Diggerland is the perfect family attraction for kids who love diggers. In fact, digger enthusiasts of any age would definitely enjoy a visit here.
There are five Diggerland sites in the UK: Devon, Yorkshire, Kent, Durham and Worcestershire. We visited the Diggerland Kent which is in Strood and took under 1.5 hours to reach from where we are in West London, so it’s ideal for a day trip out from the city.
Diggerland is on the smaller side, compared to a lot of theme parks or farm parks but there is plenty to fill up the day and we all enjoyed our trip. If you’re looking for a more manageable and less overwhelming attraction to visit, with much shorter queues, then Diggerland is a really good option.
The site includes fun digger themed rides, and plenty of vehicles that you can drive yourself. There are some height restrictions, but if your child is too short they can go on accompanied by a parent so our boys were able to go onto everything that they wanted to.
We went with the kids fully kitted out in wellies, since a friend had advised me that this would be best. It was actually not too muddy and they would have been fine in trainers, but if you go on a day when it’s recently been raining then I would say wearing wellies can’t do any harm as there may be a few muddy puddles here and there.
Rides at Diggerland
Some of our favourite rides and attractions in Diggerland include:
Dig-A-Round
This is a fair ground round a bout ride made out of diggers!
This ride lifts you 50ft high up in the air, in the front scoop of a digger!
If you’re good with heights, then this is a fun way to see the view all around! T and R went up to the top with their dad and loved it. I didn’t dare go up there myself!
These are quite easy to drive, and all 3 boys loved racing around the track in them.
These were another of the boys favourite vehicles to drive, and one of the more manageable ones for children. They are easier to drive and handle than the tractors and some of the larger diggers.
These are a little bit trickier to drive, and none of our boys were tall enough to go by themselves (their legs need to be long enough to reach down to the pedals!) so their dad and I helped them out with this.
This ride drives you around in a fork lift digger, and then lifts you high up and bumps you around as you go, which the boys loved.
There are indoor (soft play) and outdoor play areas for kids to use up a bit of extra energy. The indoor is in the barn just behind the outdoor play area here.
There are other rides too, including Spin-dizzy, Go Karts and Dippy Ducks. For grown up digger enthusiasts, you can book special digger experiences to spend longer having tuition on how to drive certain types of digger.
Food at Diggerland
There is a restaurant on site called Dig Inn which serves family friendly cafe style food like all day breakfasts, jacket potatoes and pizzas. We did find the quality a bit disappointing here. I’m not sure whether we were just unlucky with it, or whether the food maybe better at other Diggerland sites but the kids didn’t really enjoy their meals and they are normally quite easily pleased!
They did enjoy their ice creams from the ice cream van though!
Tickets and Prices
Adults and children over 90cm pay £19.95 each on the door, or £16.99 if booking online in advance. 65+ have a concession price, and carers for disabled visitors can enter free.
We all enjoyed our trip to Diggerland and would recommend it as a fun family day out, suitable for small children who are interested in diggers, or older ones who would enjoy the chance to drive all of the diggers and machinery. It’s something a bit different and memorable. We went over half term and the boys all chose this to write up for their holiday news when they went back to school, as their favourite activity of the week.

It looks great! We aredue to visit Diggerland up here soon. It’s my sister’s favourite place – never mind her kids!!
I never realised there were as many diggerland sites as you mentioned, I’ll definitely look out for them in future, my boys would love this! #travelwithkids
I have never heard of Diggerland. My son would have loved that when he was younger. Looks like a fun place to spend the day.
Looks like you had a great day out despite the food. We recently visited the Yorkshire site, and we all loved it. Which surprised hubby. Great pictures . #countrykids
Diggerland is always a hit with the little ones especially any digger mad ones! Your three all look like they’re having a great time exploring all the different rides at diggerland too, it’s great that even the littlest digger lovers get to have a go on most of the rides too. Thanks for linking up with me on Country Kids.
Diggerland is such a cool day out – We’ve been to the one in Durham and my children adored the adventure of it all. #travelwithkids #countrykids
I hadn’t realised there were so many Diggerlands – nice to know about the height restrictions too as my daughter gets a bit frustrated not being tall enough for a lot of things! #travelwithkids #countrykids
Oh wow, I’ve never even heard of Diggerland – this is awesome! We don’t have any kids, but I’m pretty darn sure Bloke would enjoy this, haha!
I’ll have to check it out 😀
