Over at Adventures of Adam we are slightly car mad. You can’t walk into a single room in our house without finding a few cars. We have embraced Adam’s love of cars and have created several different car tracks for him to play on. Today we are sharing our 5 top DIY car tracks.
DIY Car Track Busy Bag
After searching for ages to find a car track that Adam could put together himself I decided to create our own DIY car track. The track didn’t take long to make and best of all the track and box came to a total of £4 – including the car! The track fits perfectly in the tool box and has been on several outings with us. You never know when you want to create a car track!
Masking Tape Car Track
At Adventures of Adam we have used masking tape in several ways but our all time favourite activity is to make a masking tape car track. The road covered most of our living room and even went across our couch. Adam’s favourite stretch of road was the piece that ran across the arm of the chair and straight down onto the floor. We left our masking tape car track for a week and was a huge hit with Adam.
Shaving Foam Car Tracks
Messy play can also be involved when creating a car track. Adam normally shies away from mess but as soon as a car went near shaving foam he was in his element. The cars were used to mix the shaving foam and paint together to form tracks on our Tuff Spot. There is always the option of a car wash afterwards too!
Road Tape Car Track Mat
Sometimes it isn’t convenient to have a masking tape car track on your floor. It was then we discovered “My first autobahn” (affiliate link) – sticky tape with a road printed on to it. I had been hesitant to use it as it looked so wonderful in it’s packaging. I didn’t want to waste it with only one use so we created a road tape mat on the back of an old table cloth. Over time we have drawn town features onto the mat to create a cityscape.
Edible Car Track
We love to use all of our senses in play. You wouldn’t normally associate car track play with the sense of taste but it is possible with the Birkmann Racing Track Stand-Up Cookie Cutter Set (affiliate link). Car play and snack all in one activity!

Ohhh I love the look of the biscuit one! That looks fab! We made a race track out of pipe cleaners that the children loved so much we ended up including toilet roll tunnels and pipe cleaner smartie tube bridges!
