Doc McStuffins is often playing in our house, on Disney Jr. It might be thought of as typically girly but my younger boys really enjoy the show and had been quite keen to have some Doc McStuffin toys.
We were sent the Doc McStuffins Eye Doctor Bag play set for review and they have been having lots of fun. This toy is ideal for encouraging lots of role play and imaginative play, and is great for children to play with together or with their teddies and stuffed toys just like Doc McStuffins in the TV Show.
The set includes:
- 1 doctor’s bag
- 3 pairs of play glasses
- 1 eye drops bottle
- 1 ophthalmoscope
- 1 eye patch
- 1 head torch
- stickers.
The bag opens up to easily store all of the equipment, and keep it tidy when not in use.
The set is very very glittery, so I was not sure whether that would put my boys off – if they would consider it too “girly” but actually it didn’t. They enjoy this type of play and did not comment at all that it was too pink or girly, which was great to see. The pink glittery nature of the set does make it less realistic than some doctor’s role play toys available, but the range of equipment in the set is good with the head torch being a real hit with my kids since that’s something different that we haven’t come across in any medical sets before.
The glasses are interchangeable, allowing you to create 3 different designs which is a lot of fun too. They are a good size to fit the children, and can also fit well onto their teddies as we found out.
The children played together, using all the different pieces of equipment and using lots of the medical terms and ideas they have picked up from the Doc McStuffins show. This type of role play is important for children’s development, helping them to learn about the world around them through play, to develop language skills, social skills and empathise with others.
The set requires 3 x LR44/AG13 batteries for the head torch, and these come provided within the torch so it’s all ready to go straight away.
The Doc McStuffins Eye Doctor Bag Playset is available from Amazon UK (and here’s a similar version for those of you in the US)
