How has travel changed over the years? Have you ever wondered what kind of impact technology has had on travel and holiday habits and how the trends have changed over the last 30 years. I wasn’t born yet 30 years ago! But I can still recognise a lot of these changes shifting from how holidays were when I was little 20+ years ago into the holidays of today. The need for Wifi is a definite change, that concern never existed at all 20 or 30 years ago and now I have to admit this has become an essential for us too!

The Evolution of Travel over the last 30 years - how travel habits have changed

The UK’s favourite holiday destinations have also changed with Italy having overtaken Spain as the no.1 short haul destination; and France no longer makes the Top 3. We actually visited France on our last holiday and have not yet visited Italy, so we might be stuck behind the times on that one but I would definitely recommend France we did have a lovely time there and it’s ideal for a family holiday being so nearby to the UK.

USA has also been replaced by Australia as the UK’s favourite long haul holiday. I’m with the old favourites on this one too as we really enjoyed our trip to USA before we had the kids and it is up there near the top of our list for destinations we would love to return to!
