Things to think about before buying a New TV

When buying a big purchase for your home such as a TV, there are of course loads to think about as they can be expensive, so you will of course want to get the most for your money, and will want one that will last you a number of years.

We’ve come up with a bit of a guide to help you when buying a new TV so that you will hopefully end up with a great one that’s perfect for you and your family!

things to think about when buying a new tv

The size of TV you need

You need to think first about where the TV is going so you can plan the size that you’ll need. Think about whether you have (or are getting) an entertainment centre, whether it needs to go on the wall and if it’s going in an awkward space too as all of these things will impact the size you go for.

Your budget

Your budget will obviously determine what sort of television you can buy, but it’s a good idea to look at payment plans and options if your budget isn’t too high all at once. Some companies will let you pay weekly or monthly which can be really handy, for example. You can keep prices down if you don’t opt for things like 3D TVs or internet enabled ones, and if you opt for slightly smaller options too.

What sort of things do you watch?

Thinking about what sort of TV shows and films you watch can be really useful as you can then think about what sort of TV would be best, and which would be good enough for your needs. If you’re really into your movies and love special effects, for example, it’s a good idea to invest in a great one with things like 3D enabled or really good quality high definition.

What type of display do you want?

As briefly mentioned above there are lots of different types of TV available, and it’s worth looking into each display option so you can make a good choice. From HD to 3D to 4K picture quality, there will be something for everyone and for all budgets.

Check the guarantee

Especially if it’s a TV in your family home, you will want to look for TV suppliers that offer a really good, competent and competitive guarantee. This will put your mind at rest, especially if you opt for a really pricey one. Look at insurance options available too, and some content insurance companies will give you the option to bump up your insurance with the purchase of a new TV.

Don’t forget the extras

As well as the actual TV, you will want to think about the other options and add-ons when buying one, such as things like sound equipment, wall mounts (if you’re attaching it to the wall), cables to connect it to your laptop and things like DVD or Blu-Ray players. Look to see if companies offer a deal when buying a few different  things to see if you can save some cash.
