Getting a take away is always a nice treat for the family. It saves work for me, and is something a bit different so its a treat for the kids too. Recently we tried out takeaway.com which was a new website to me.

It works by entering your postcode and then you will see all of the food establishments that are available to deliver to your area, and you can sort these by cuisine:
  • Pizza
  • Mediterranean
  • Grill
  • Asian
  • Indian
  • Other

We have 35 restaurants available in our area, and it will show you the most popular choices and remind you if you have ordered from any of these before.

We decided to go with a restaurant called Mazar Afghanistan, which we had not tried before but we tend to love Afghan food so it was quite a safe bet for us.

We ordered a Mazar Family Pack including 1 Large portion of qabili paliu, 1 portion mixed kebab, montoo, kofta or korma, sabzi or bamia, naan & salad plus House Special of Banjan Borani and Desserts of Afgha Firni, with diet coke to drink.

This was plenty of food for us and good value with everything coming in at around £30.
The food came quickly and we had no problems at all with the ordering process, the delivery or the food. It all went very smoothly and I would not hesitate to use takeaway.com again
When ordering, I tweeted my order and then won another voucher for more takeaway which was a lovely surprise! So we used that one to order pizza another day and have a relaxing movie night with the kids watching Frozen together – a lovely way to spend calm and quiet quality family time.
If you have not ordered from Takeaway.com I would recommend you to give them a try, and if you have not tried Afghan food I would recommend you to give that a try too! I know some of my friends haven’t tasted it, so I often recommend it to people. It has lots of flavour and is not too spicy so it’s ideal for kids too. I would say it’s quite similar to Iranian food but there are a few dishes which seem to be unique just to Afghanistan like mantoo and banjan burani. I really should learn how to cook these myself!

  1. I’ve never tried Afghan food before, in fact I don’t think there are any takeaways that do anything different around us! Will have to check out takeaway.com – we used one of the other sites recently and found it really easy, it would be good to compare.
