My boys love to bake with me. Some days we have plenty of time and can spend an while to make something from scratch but other days a super quick and easy solution is just what I need. I decided to get some Jus Rol Pain au Chocolate for a nice easy baking project for them to do after school. They love pain au chocolat so it made a real treat for them and they really enjoyed eating the end result! I have to say, these look pretty great for being made by a 2 year old, a  4 year old and a 5 year old don’t you think?
The easiest ever pain au chocolat

Actually the pack does make six, and some of the others were not quite as neat and tidy but still I was pretty impressed with their work. The pain au chocolat looked and tasted great.

With the Jus Rol pain au chocolat, the cardboard packaging contains a tin which you rip open to reveal the pain au chocolat dough. You can then rip this into 6 equally sized pieces. It’s already marked for you where to rip so this is as easy as can be, even for children.

You then place two sticks of chocolate onto each piece of pain au chocolat dough, and then fold both sides towards the centre.

All of the boys really enjoyed this. It’s great that its so simple so they can feel that they have accomplished it all by themselves.

Once the pain au chocolat are all rolled up properly, then you just place the tray in the oven on gas mark 5 for around 12 minutes or until they are golden brown. Easy peasy, and very delicious!

  1. We’ve used the Jus Rol Croissants before and even sometimes put chocolate chips in them! I didn’t know they did pain au choc though, will keep a lookout! x

  2. Wow these look so yummy and I love chocolate! Funny story…last year when I visited the east coast on the plane I met this Indian couple and they had these puffs that had a succulent chicken spice filling and it was amazing! These reminded me of that 🙂

  3. My eldest would die for these. ‘Chockwit’ is one of her favourite things and they have occasionally been allowed chocolate pastries – making her own would be on another level. She’s three so the perfect age too! Thanks for sharing – I shall have to keep an eye out for these.

  8. I really didn’t know that Jus Rol did pain-au-chocolate, I’ll have to look out for those. I love Jus rol puff pastry and use it all the time, I really don’t have the patience to make puff pastry myself and it never turns out right. Well done to your little ones for making such delicous looking pastries, I hope they saved me one 😉
