This year marks the 10th anniversary of the classic book “How to Catch a Star” by Oliver Jeffers. To celebrate , we were sent a special 10th anniversary box with a copy of the book for ourselves, one to give away to one of you, and a few little extras.
I don’t know how come, but we had never read this book before! It is really lovely though, so I’m glad we had the chance to be introduced to it. All the boys really enjoyed the story and I love the beautiful soft illustration style.
The story was perfect for Mr T and Mr R who are 4 years old and 2.5. They loved spotting all the stars, and putting stars of their own on the pages while we read the story.
The story tells of a little boy who loves the stars and really wants one to keep for his very own, so he sets about thinking of all the ways he could try to catch one from the sky.
He even tries to catch the star’s reflections from the water, but that won’t work either. It’s a very sweet book about how much this little boy tries, and the boys were always interested to see what he was going to try next!

We absolutely love Oliver Jeffers and we are huge fans of Lost and Found (there is also an animated movie of this tale which is just beautiful to watch). We absolutely adore Oliver Jeffers – a lot of my favourite books are Oliver Jeffers books and ‘The Heart and the Bottle’ is one of my all time faves. Interestingly enough – this one is one of the few Oliver Jeffers books that I don’t have on my bookshelves.
We can’t get enough Oliver Jeffers here – love the illustrations especially! 🙂

We have a copy of How to Catch a Star but it would be lovely to have the anniversary adition to save. I have books that were put aside for me as a child. They’re very special to me and remind me of bedtimes reading with my mum.
