Box Upon a Time…

As little ones are constantly growing, a regularly delivery of good quality new clothes to keep their wardrobes topped up is such a handy idea. When I heard about Box Upon a Time monthly subscription boxes for baby clothes, I was really interested to find out more.

For £49 per month you will receive a new box every month with a customised selection of branded baby clothes. Before your box arrives, you fill in all your preferences on the Box Upon a time website. This allows you to exclude any colours or patterns that you are not fond of, or to select any particular type of garments that you would prefer to receive in the box. These preferences are very quick and easy to fill in, and help to make sure that you will be pleased with your selection.

In just a couple of days your Box Upon a Time box will be delivered. I enjoyed the surprise aspect of not knowing exactly what would be included – it’s like opening  a present!

Our box included 3 jumpers in age 2-3 years for Mr R.

These are from Edamame Baby and Bebebo, which is an Italian brand. The quality of all of the clothes is really nice, the Edamame jumpers are especially soft. These are not brands that tend to be sold on the high street so it’s nice to have something a bit different and at £49 for the three jumpers, this is very reasonable. Box Upon a Time guarantees that the price of your box will work out at a 40-50% discount on the actual price of the clothes, so it will work out as a good value way to buy these brands. If you want to buy less cheap throwaway clothes and instead invest in fewer but longer lasting and better quality items, then Box Upon a Time will work perfectly for this.

I let Mr R choose which jumper he wanted to wear first and he chose the red Edamame jumper. As you can see, he was pretty happy with it. I did find the sizing a tiny bit on the smaller side compared to super market and high street brands, so if your child is in between sizes it may be worth considering that and opting for the larger size.

Box Upon a Time caters for children from 0-3 years. A subscription would make a lovely new baby present, especially as they grow even quicker during those early days and sometimes parents can be too busy to make it to the shops.

  1. Whilst I do think this is a lovely concept, I think the monthly cost is extremely high as in this age range they are not in the clothes for very long! It is lovely to be able to have different clothing ranges and not bulk standard high street clothing but £49 for 3 jumpers seems a high price to pay for something my son might only be in for a few months.

  2. They’re excellent quality clothes and look gorgeous, he’s obviously very happy! 😀
I do think it’s beyond me financially, but a lot of people do spend far more than that regularly on clothes, so if you teamed it with some cheaper jeans and t-shirts you’d have an outfit that all looked great 🙂

  3. It is a lovely idea however I do think that it is expensive. For the odd special item of clothing I don’t mind spending a bit more but its something that we certainly wouldn’t be able to afford each month and even more so for twins that are not the same gender. However the clothes look lovely in your pictures x #blogclub

  4. A fantastic idea but I couldn’t justify nearly £50 for three jumpers. Because of the speed kids get through clothes I do buy much cheaper high Street things – at that price I would be be worried about them wearing them in case they got spoiled! However in principal a great idea and they do look lovely!

  5. I love the idea of this box but I don’t think any child needs three new items of clothing every month – I’d love to do this quarterly and get some really special items of clothing for the children x

  6. I agree its so expensive! Not really a reasonable price for items that you can’t even choose yourself. I do think it is quite a nice and fun idea if you have loads of money but £50 for 3 jumpers is dear for most people

  7. I’ve just subscribed for my 2 years old daughter, haven’t received it yet but I wanted to give it a shot. Honestly, I’m so tired of buying my child cheap high street clothes. Knowing that in a few years she’ll be wearing a uniform for several years, I only have 2 years left of regularly big spendings on child clothes, I rather enjoy it.
Also, I want her to start being sensitive to quality fabrics and to be elegant. It might sound idiot but it is very important for me to give this kind of education to my child.
Sure £49 is not a small price but I believe it is the price of quality
Anyway, I’m sure I’ll love it.

  8. I do really like the idea of this. I’m a firm fan of less mainstream brands and this strikes me as an effective way to discover a few more of them. I love the photo of Mr R in his jumper.

  9. It does sound like a good idea and the clothes look lovely, however, I am not sure I could constitute spending that much a month of so few clothes – especially with two to dress!

  10. I love the idea of this – have seen lots of subscription boxes before but never kids clothes. Great idea, especially as they grow so fast, but a bit expensive for me I think. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
