To get you in the mood for Valentines Day here are some interesting facts:

  • Hearts symbolise Valentine’s Day because it’s believed that if Eros, known as Cupid, shot you in the heart with one of his arrows you would fall hopelessly in love.
  • The first Valentine’s Day gift was sent by the Duke of Orleans to his wife after he was captured in 1415
  • Girls in Medieval times ate bizarre foods on Valentine’s Day to make them dream of their future spouse
  • In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names from a bowl to see who would be their Valentine. They would wear this name on their sleeve for a week for everyone to see. This was the origin of the expression “wear your heart of your sleeve”
  • In 1537, England’s King Henry VII officially declared February 14th the holiday of St Valentines
  • The red rose was the favourite flower of Venus the Roman ‘goddess’ of love
  • Red roses are considered the flower of love because the colour red stands for strong romantic feelings
  • Women purchase approximately 85% of all Valentines Day cards

Good luck in the giveaway, and have a happy Valentines Day!

  1. Random I know but I would put booba as it is a personal nickname I have for my hubby (pass the sick buckets!) and he would know it was meant only for him!!

  3. If it’d fit; ‘wherever you go’ – I’m immigrating to be with my partner, he’s also planning on moving from LA out into somewhere more remote in Palm Springs (I’m an urban girl), he’s also got this foolish idea that he drags me out on off-road trips, hiking, geocaching, etc. when in fact I love it…but as I tell him, I’ll go wherever he goes.

    FYI I’m low-carb, but I love anything with hearts…darn you! 😛

  4. I’d put ‘Stud Muffin’ on my Love Hearts to embarrass my partner – either that or ‘Humbug to Valentines Day’!

  5. More than life itself! (Whenever I ask my husband “how much do you love me? he replies with this – then I say how much is that? And he says about a week lol…..)

  6. Not sure if it would fit but I would go with “am I fluffy enough for you”, an old joke from the days of the Big Breakfast
