I love My Little Pony! I was an 80’s baby so grew up in the 90s playing with Barbies, My Little Pony and Polly Pocket. I remember being so excited when me and my sister got the my little Pony dancing school – it was soooo cool!
It has been 30 years now since My Little Pony first came out! But it’s really good to know that even after all these years, these simple toys are still a favourite with kids. A survey of 1,000 parents by Clearvision – to mark the launch of the new My Little Pony on DVD for the first time in the UK, found that children still overall like much the same toys as their parents generation had enjoyed at the same age.
For children under 8 the top favourites among those surveyed were
- A bike
- A doll’s house
- A barbie
- My Little Pony
I definitely think My Little Pony has stood the test of time. I do buy it as birthday presents for my friend’s little girls, and my niece always liked My Little Pony too.

I don’t think I had ever seen My Little Pony cartoon or videos growing up, so I was quite interested to see what it’s like. I do also like to show my children the toys and characters I grew up with which is why they do have their own vintage 80s popples!
Mr Z, being a 5 year old boy, would not really agree to watch My Little Pony saying it is for girls so I thought I would try it out with Mr R while he was at school. Since he is younger, he doesn’t know which products are ‘supposed’ to be for which gender so he was happy to watch some of this. I feel the stories are interesting and enjoyable for either gender but obviously peer pressure does come into play when they reach school age. I think the stories would be entertaining up to about 6-7years as there is quite a bit of detail to it and its not overly babyish.
The main character is Twilight Sparkle, and it includes other pony friends Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Applejack as they go on their journey to find out the true meaning of friendship and discover the magic of friendship.
It’s great to have a bit of the magic of My Little Pony on DVD – whether your child is already a fan, or whether you want to introduce your kids to your own childhood favourites for the first time.

My daughter went to the My Little Pony Royal Wedding last year, it was brilliant, she had a fantastic time, both her and my son love the DVD we have and watch it over and over again!

The Royal Wedding was really good fun, Melody was one of the youngest there and it was a little bit manic at times but great!

I love my little ponies. I am too an 80’s baby and i remember having my little ponies as a little girl. I had the castle with the little dragon spike too. I was such a fan, i even had them on videos and watch them all the time. My favorite is still apple jack. Now my 5 year is into them, it brings so much joyful memories back.

I loved them when I was young as did my 19 year old daughter and now my 5 and 3 year old sons love my little ponies, not that they tell there friends

I loved My Little Pony when I was little,had loas of them,plus the castle and the Nursery,don’t think they look the same now though,much prefer their old look,but cousin loves them
